Stepping Into Cozy Season with IKEA

Leaves are turning and temps are cooling which means it’s time to cozy up indoors. It’s the season where we fully embrace true thankfulness, joy and quality time with the people we care about the most in the spaces we care about the most…our homes. Food tends to be the star of the show this time of the year, but as a designer, I know that setting a beautiful stage and creating the right ambiance with the right décor is what makes those gatherings so special. This year, I have my eye on a few things from IKEA to help me usher in the cozy to the Hamilton house!

I’m hosting Thanksgiving AND Friendsgiving this year and here are a few pieces that will set the stage for friends and family!

I’m all about texture and these SANELA velvet cushion covers will be perfect additions to the sectional in the living room! The color options make room for them in any space, but I’m loving the olive green for some added color to our neutral palette.

The GUNNEMOR and HOLMVI throw blankets are light-weight and soft and will be perfect for those chilly evenings spent watching movies.

We have a small round mirror above our fireplace and I love how it catches the light during the day, but I saw the ALMARÖD mirror and feel like the black and gold combo of finishes looks way more elevated than our existing one.

A GLADOM tray table or two will give us some extra necessary surface space for drinks and snacks.

Now, I’m not on the hunt for a new sofa, but the BACKSÄLEN sofa has such amazing lines. I think I love it so much because it reminds me of the sectional we already have! There’s just something about thin arms and subtle cushions that give it the subtle cozy look I love, without looking overstuffed.

I love the look of the HEMNES glass-door cabinet and think it would be a great addition to our dining space. I’m considering getting rid of the credenza to free up the area round the dining table, so bringing in the taller cabinet will maintain all of our storage needs and the black finish balances my hand-painted mural!

And speaking of the dining room, the holiday season isn’t properly ushered in until you have a proper table setting! I’d buy at least 3-5 sets of the FULLTALIG candlesticks holders, for a dramatic centerpiece. They would compliment the LATTAD placemats that would be the foundation of the FÄRGKLAR dinnerware set that I’d get in the rich matte green color (complimenting the new pillows in the living room *wink wink*) and the patterned FRIKOSTIG side plates. And I love a good cocktail, but to make things easier on myself while entertaining, I make a beautiful batch of fall-inspired sangria to go in the TILLBRINGARE drink pitcher. Filled with cut apples, pears and pomegranates, it could stand as a centerpiece all by itself!
