Personal Style Files: Brown is the New Black

When it comes to fashion, there’s almost nothing more chic or stylish than a monochromatic look! All black and all white are classics that will never die, but over recent years, we’ve seen some fun colors come into play and totally broaden our fashion pallets!

And as much as I’d like to think I was inspired by this trend before hand, my own look totally came together by chance! My sweater belonged to my mom, who passed away almost 9 years ago. It’s a classic, chocolate, cable-knit turtleneck sweater; a piece that will never go out of style. My leather shorts were an impulse purchase that happened while under the influence of friends. LOL! I walked in to local clothing store, Oak Hall, with my stylist friend who was there to pull looks for clients. They were having a super sale and I stumbled upon these chocolate leather Equipment shorts that were tagged at 75% off! I tried them on and they fit too perfectly for me to leave behind! My wool coat was blessing from the thrifting gods! I just so happened to stop in the clothing section of one of my favorite vintage/antique galleries and they were having a 50% off sale on everything wool! It fit just as perfectly as my camel coat that took me years to find, so there was no way I was’t snatching it up! When I put them all together, it was like the Planeteers uniting and combining their powers to summon Captain Planet! The chocolate tones are just beyond and are now a favorite.

My suede Zara boots were the icing on the cake and perfect for keeping the monochromatic look interesting.
