Nubi Cocktails: Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita
Summer is on the horizon, so what better time than now to start working on your at-home mixology skills? Enter the Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita. It’s spicy, cool and refreshing with a hint of sweetness, and it’s become one of our favorite cocktails to make! This recipe is so simple and straight to the point-you probably already have most of these ingredients at home in your fridge.
You can whip one up in about 5 minutes for your own at-home “Happy Hour”, or try infusing your tequila with the jalapeños for a few hours ahead of time and make a big pitcher to enjoy while hanging with friends outside on your patio.
If you’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo this weekend, this margarita will pair deliciously with shrimp tacos, guacamole and Mexican street corn.
Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita
Ingredients
2 oz blanco tequila
1 oz Cointreau or Orange liquor
1 oz lime juice
2 oz jalapeño limeade
1 lime
1 cucumber
1 jalapeño
Muddle sliced jalapeño and diced cucumber with a squeeze of fresh lime juice in your shaker.
Pour your tequila, orange liquor, jalapeño limeade and lime juice into the shaker and top with ice.
Shake vigorously for 1-2 minutes.
Before you salt the rim of your glass, add a bit of aroma and spice by rubbing the inside of the rim with a slice of jalapeño. To salt a portion of your rim, wet the rim with lime juice and dip it in corse salt (if you want to make it extra spicy, try tajin!)
Add ice to your glass, pour mixture from shaker and garnish with cucumber and jalapeño slices (tip: a veggie peeler makes perfect cucumber ribbons).
Voila!
If cucumber isn’t your thing, no worries: you can always swap it out with pineapple, mango, or strawberries to keep it spicy and sweet.
Enjoy!
