My 2022 Home Wishlist
First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR friends!
Around this time last year, Bestie and I had seen lots of fashion bloggers and YouTubers create content around what new items they wanted for their designer wardrobes, so we thought it would be a great idea to do it for home! You can check out our lists from last year here (mine) and here (Shavonda’s). It was so great to have some path for the year (even though our home path went in quite a few directions), that we decided to do it again!
This year’s list is pretty random, but it includes items that:
I didn’t get from last year’s list and still want
I’ve been loving for months and want to incorporate into our home somehow
Is a new need thanks to how our lives have changed in the passed 5 months
So here we go! First up, some things from last year’s list!
Since I didn’t get this checked off the list last year, it’s on the list for this year. Funny though, I cook waaaayyyy less right now, but a new cookware set may be the incentive I need to get back in the kitchen!
Dining Chairs for Our Dining Space
I totally love our current dining chairs (waited almost 6 months for them), but as soon as they were delivered, I knew I’d messed up. I fell in love with the style, but didn’t confirm the dimensions. Our table should seat six people, but with these chairs, we can only seat four! So, I’m on the hunt for replacements and this style has my heart! I love the cane element of our current chairs, but think the cowhide upholstery looks so luxe and would look amazing with the mural.
A Mid Century Style Front Door
Our entryway and front façade of our home is screaming for a new front door!!! Not only will it it elevate the look of our home from the outside, but a door with windows will bring some much needed natural light to the inside!
This is what our entry looks like with the the front door open. All the light comes flooding in, which I love, but leaving the door open is not great in winter and summer when we’re trying to control the temps indoors. We have a storm door, but it’s not weather sealed so it lets a lot of cool air out in the warmer months and cold air in in the colder months.
This is what our entry looks like when the door is closed. It’s really dark with the exception of the light that comes in from the living room. I want more light. Give me alllll the light! A new door is the fix! And speaking of the entry….next on the list…
The original light for the entryway was a DIY and great solution for something quick and inexpensive while I searched for something more permanent. Well, 5 years later and it’s still up, but I’m ready to make a change. I want something simple and chic to contrast with organic line work of my hand-painted mural. I’m loving this one for it’s simplicity and think the texture is exactly what I’m looking for.
Sun Tunnel for the Hallway
This is another one from last year’s list. Now, I absolutely adore the look of our hallway, but I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SEE IT!!! As you can see from the pic above, she gets absolutely zero natural light (unless Davin’s bedroom door is open…which is never). We have a sun tunnel in our primary bathroom and to be so small, it brings in soooo much natural light! I want the same for our hallway! I’d have it installed where the the light fixture is.
Soooo…
The last item on my home wish list is quite the doozie and one that I don’t even know if it’s possible!
Are you ready???
A SWIMMING POOL!!!
Yes, a pool! It’s been a dream of mine for years to live in a house with a pool, but have always been easily talked out of them when you bring up initial cost, maintenance cost, effects on monthly utility bills, insurance costs and precautions, etc. Marcus always loathed the idea of a pool for all of those reasons, but it was always a lingering conversation because of how much Davin and I love the water! We have a huge backyard and with more than enough room for one! Actually, the space is just space without it! But, ultimately, the want for one comes from how I see, or want to see, my home now. This place is likely my forever home. At the least, it’s a home I’ll never sell and will pass down to Davin, because that’s what Marcus wanted to do. So, since I have no plans to leave it, I might as well make it more of what I want for the long haul and a pool is definitely a long haul! LOL! It, also, doesn’t help that I just watched my best friend go through her own pool build and I’m itching for her to finish so we can hop on a plane to join her in the first swim! I’ll share more about what I want in a pool of my own soon, but just wanted to put this into the atmosphere!
So that’s pretty much it! All of what I know for sure I want this year. But don’t be fooled, this does not exclude any of the greatness that I may come across over the next three hundred and thirty some-odd days! Haha!!! What’s on your home wish list this year?
