Hand-Painted Cone Trees
We’re all about ease when it comes to our DIY projects, so for so for Episode 5 of Crafts, Cocktails, and Conversation with Carmeon Hamilton, we Hand-Painted Cone Trees. A surprisingly simple craft that you can do with the fam, this is another one that allows your creativity to flow; there is no template to follow when it comes to your design.
Here’s what you need:
Cone trees (varying sizes)
Acrylic paint
Gold Leaf foil
Ribbon
Yarn
Hot Glue Gun
First things first: paint your tree. If you plan to wrap your tree with yarn or ribbon, we suggest painting the cone the same color as the yarn/ribbon you will use. This way, the look will stay cohesive in the event a bit of the base peeks out. We have a neutral palette so our cones were painted black and white.
To add ribbon or yarn: We suggest using fabric that is either really thin in width, or really chunky; this allows the fabric to be easily manipulated as you wrap it around the cone. Apply glue on every other row to secure it to the cone.
To apply gold foil: we suggest using premium ready gold foil sheets. They are pre-treated and ready for application; simply apply the gold leaf foil to the desired areas.
Once you’re completed with decorating your cones, display them on your fireplace mantle or tv stand for extra special holiday decor.
