Festive Pillow Covers
Decorating for the Holidays doesn’t just mean putting up a Christmas tree and lights. You can get very creative with your DIY projects, so for Episode 4 of Crafts, Cocktails, and Conversation with Carmeon Hamilton, we created some eye-catching Festive Fall Pillows.
Another super easy DIY craft, this is one that you can do with your kids (minus the cocktails, of course!). These one-of-a-kind pieces can be as festive or as minimalist as you like. It’s your chance to get extra creative and really show off your artistic side!
Here’s what you need:
Pillow covers (varying sizes: 18x18, 12x18, 26x26)
felt sheets
felt accessories
fabric scissors
paint
ribbon + yarn
hot glue gun or fabric glue
BONUS (dressmaker’s chalk)
First things first, plan out your design. Before you glue anything down, cut out all of your shapes and arrange them on your pillow cover to make sure you have enough pieces. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but if needed, you can use the dressmaker’s chalk to create a “guide”.
After deciding on your design, apply a light coat of fabric glue/hot glue on the back of your felt pieces and place as you go.
Once your design is complete, let the glue dry before stuffing the pillow case. For extra security, place a hard book on top of your pillow case to ensure the felt pieces stay flat.
Voila!
Seriously, it’s that easy!
