Vesta Home Show: Partnering with Stash Home

Head’s up friends, because there’s tons of announcements packed into this one post! First, premier custom home builders, Jarod Wilder and Sammy Stover of The Longtown Company, reached out to me a couple months ago with the idea to invite a group of local designers to each take on a space in the home they were building for the Vesta Home Show, one of the biggest home shows in the entire mid-south area! You already know that my immediate answer was ABSOLUTELY!

I was asked to design what’s shown as a bedroom that’s just off the media room. I gave the room purpose and chose to make it the home office of an interior designer. The main finishes and elements of the home, like the flooring, light fixtures and bathrooms, were already predetermined by interior designer, Sarah Spinosa. She’s done an amazing job with selecting classic fixtures, but keeping things feeling fresh with modern finishes. I’m using what’s she’s started as my jumping off point. More on that in a sec.

With every project I take on, I start with space planning. I take the dimension of the room, draw out the structure and then start to play with furniture pieces. This let’s me know what type and how much furniture I need to source.

I wanted a very special desk to be the focal point, unique chairs for potential clients to sit during hypothetical meetings and substantial storage for lots of fabric and finish sample, decks and memos. I felt that each piece needed to feel like it was collected over time by a well-traveled design lover but fit within one overall aesthetic. I had my vision; it was then time to source my pieces.

Designing a space for opportunities like show homes are always exciting, but they definitely bring on a feeling of anxiety around how to furnish them! There’s no real client footing the bill and I certainly don’t have the capital to go out and purchase everything for the space, so partnerships are incredibly important. Who better to partner with than a retailer that has access to all the furniture of my dreams?

Yes! The same Stash Home that I worked for just 4 short weeks ago! They are one of the most unique furniture retailers in the country, having partnerships with the most premier furniture manufacturers of the industry! No matter your style or personal aesthetic, Stash either has what you’re looking for or can easily get it for you!

Just this week, they launched their brand new Austin by Stash Home gallery and it was just the look I was going for my office project!

The Austin Gallery in stores is just a small representation of everything they have to offer. Once you’re in the store, you can shop the entire Austin collection on a special iPad. Just ask a design consultant to point you in the right direction!

Digging into the details, I’m going for a look that feels moody, modern and collected. I was already working with a gorgeous gold flush mount light fixture and medium toned walnut finished floors that were selected by Sarah. She specified this gorgeous moody color for the vanity in the bathroom that’s adjacent to my room: Sherwin Williams Rock Garden. I decided to use it as the wall color to wrap around the entire space: walls, trim, doors too (walls in a satin finish and trim and doors in semi-gloss).

The paint color gives me all the moodiness I was looking for, so my furniture pics had to feel modern and collected. These pieces are the foundation of the room and each piece is a star in it’s own right!
