Adding Fall Décor to Dad’s Kitchen with The Home Depot

Hey friends! I’m back with another update on Dad’s kitchen and this time it’s a big sneak peek into the after! The kitchen isn’t quite done, but I’ve partnered with The Home Depot to bring in some fall décor and couldn’t resist giving Dad a glimpse into what’s to come! (If you’re new here, catch up here on the history of my dad not heeding my design advice.).

Home Depot was where I sourced the bones of the kitchen renovation (flooring, cabinets, counter tops, hardware, etc.), so when they reached out for a Fall Décor collaboration, I remembered that HD, especially homedepot.com, has solutions for everything beyond home improvement/construction too and would make putting the finishing touches on Dad’s kitchen that much easier!

Dad’s kitchen was lacking flow, functionality and any signs of beauty or enjoyment. He had long gotten rid of the old table set, so there was no place to actually eat in the kitchen. The existing counter space was super limited and lacked usability. And with the changes we were making to the kitchen (removing the cooktop and wall oven and replacing with a range) we needed a solution for the storage he was going to lose. Thankfully, Home Depot has a solution for it all!

First order of business was getting rid of the neon pea green wall color! We decided on a warm, creamy white with grey undertones (Behr Paints Smoky White BWC-13) to compliment the new floors. It made the most dramatic difference!

After the walls were painted, one of the first things I did was add this Natural Wood Toned Round Mirror to further open up the space.

When it came to furniture and décor, one of the first items I looked for was a free-standing island. I knew that the perfect one would solve the need of additional storage and counter space. I found this Home Decorators Black Kitchen Island with Butcher Block Top and it’s more than perfect! The six drawers and two cabinet spaces add so much valuable storage and it only gets better with the extending butcher block top! I can float this in the center of the kitchen for easy access and better functionality!

Dad’s dining room is on the back side of the kitchen, so he didn’t need much for the eat in area. I wanted to make sure he had a space to sit for morning coffee or a quick lunch without bringing in furniture that would take over the room. This Lucy Faux White Carrara Faux Marble Bistro Table and Safavieh Wren Black Spindle Chairs made the perfect set up and fit the bay window area without overwhelming the space!

I’m in love with these larger elements, but it’s the small details that totally make the space and truly feel like fall has landed!

If it looks this great now, can you imagine what it will look like when the entire space is done!? I’m dying with excitement and can’t wait to share the rest of this project with you guys!
